About Me

Hello! My name is Amy Young, and I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. As a young adult, I felt like a kid opening presents on Christmas morning when I would go to the local film developer to pick up my photos. The evolution of digital photography eventually became my passion, and I purchased my first Digital SLR camera in 2004. I began to study the art of photography seriously then, and my images started to draw the attention of family and friends.

While regularly photographing my family, I began doing photoshoots for extended family and many friends as well. However, working full-time in another career prevented me from having the time and flexibility to be available to everyone. I continued to expand my knowledge and skills over the years in digital photography through classes, reading, and practice, and I am currently working towards my certification as a professional photographer.

My unending passion for photography, coupled with my desire to create beautiful images for others, has led me to create Joylight Photography. I chose Joylight as a representation of two elements that make a perfect photograph and also because the name is a reminder of the joy we experience when we walk with the light of Jesus.
